Bamboo Lumber

The Planet Earth loses 10 billion trees every year. It is estimated that 15 billion trees are removed with only 5 billion being replanted. Sadly, that equals about an area the size of a football field lost every second!

The construction industry needs to come up with alternative eco-friendly materials, using trees alone as a building material is not sustainable.

Bamboo facts that make it a great renewable alternative as a potential building material:

  • There are more than 1,500 species on the planet

  • Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world

  • Bamboo can grow over 35 inches in a single day

  • Actually, it is not a tree, it is a grass

  • The strength of bamboo is comparable to steel and concrete

  • It requires no pesticides, and helps prevent soil erosion

  • High rate of oxygen production & carbon dioxide sequestration

  • Sustainably harvested in a much shorter time than wood

  • If harvested about every 3-5 years, it does not harm the root system
